SKIN 79 BB miniature set

The SKIN79 BB Creams all look really natural and have a nice finish. They feel really weird and gel like texture, thick but light at the same time, which blends in so easily on the skin. No caking, just a smooth evened out skintone with a half decent coverage. I found they lasted well on my oily skin with a primer and set with a MAC Mineralize Skin Finish. I always wear my foundation like this so didn't test it without the two. I personally feel its a low/medium coverage foundation type of foundation, Its definitely a suitable "day" foundation for most people.

I cant tell the difference between the pink, gold and light pink ones apart from a slight variation in tones. Hence why this is a grouped together review, However the silver one is a "luminous" one so is a bit disco ball for my liking! I find they are all quite pale and grey-toned (ashy?) when I squeeze them onto my hand straight out of the tube especially compared to the foundations I typically use (orange!). Although it seems to look alright once applied as they sort of even out and blend with your skintone. I bronze back up to my usual shade using Chanel Bronze Universal.

Would I use this over another foundation? I don't think so. I much prefer my Illamasqua Skin Base, a very European version of a BB Cream. However I do really like the product, despite this sounding like a mixed/negative review. I think they are worth a try if your interested in the BB Creams and trying the "proper" ones compared to the westernized ones slowly becoming avaible in the UK (eg. the Garnier one!). But personally I like a totally full coverage foundation as I like that "OMG SHE WEARS SO MUCH MAKEUP LOOK".loljk.

For reference I'm wearing it in this post here. Not that you can really tell the difference between a BB cream and the other foundations I use. They all seem to photograph the same in my opinion!

EDITED TO ADD: I'm aware BB creams are designed for Asian Skintones, I bought this purely to explore the hype around BB creams at the moment.
(My skin for reference: I have oily/combo skin, relatively good skin in terms of breakouts and spots, slight scarring on my chin. I have a very uneven olive and warm toned skin with very pink toned cheeks. Im a MAC NW15 without tan and generally wear foundation this colour then bronze up with bronzer if needed!)

  1. I think the ashy colour is designed to stop skin looking sallow, more of a problem for Asian skin tones which is why they've reformulated BB creams for the UK/US market

  2. I prefer full coverage foundation also, they seem a great price aswell, I want to read more reviews on bb creams to see if I want to try them out :) this is a great kit if your unsure and want to test first :)

  3. I got Garnier one but haven't tried it out yet, i really want Illamasqua one. You are a great reviewer. xx

  4. I have a lot of Korean friends, and I thought that BB cream was an East Asian product, designed for that type of skin. This may be the reason it may not suit your skin tone.

  5. Well, the tubes are cute! I don't think I'd ever use them, though, since, like you, I prefer a full-coverage foundation (as I also need that much coverage 'cos my skin is actually horrendous, haha!)

  6. I bought the gold edition Skin 79 cream about two weeks ago and love it, it's so toning and keeps my skin looking refreshed? I think BB creams are generally ashy toned on application because it's "fashionable" and the beauty norm to have pale, dewy, radiant skin in Asia haha (:

  7. This was interesting to read, well written and I'm glad to have read it because I've probably realised that bb creams arent for me and I won't be tempted to waste my money on something I won't use all that often. I like to look like I'm wearing makeup if you know what I mean, just not too much, just to show I take care of myself I guess!

  8. Hi! Can you do a review of your favorite foundations? :)

  9. i have been thinking about trying bb creams for ages, might give them a go :D
