Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake: Superdrug/Boots (£7.99)
The colour of Strawberry Shortcake is a warmish pink toned lipstick in the tube, I think it comes out a lot paler on me than it does in the tube. More of a light milky barbie pink, which I don't think suits me all that much. I think it looks a touch too purple/blue on my pigmented lips. Im not 100% sure if I like it. The conistancy is creamy and slicks onto the lips incredibly easily. Its a very moisturising formula which feels comfortable on the lips. Its perfect for a daytime lipstick as it is so subtle and easy to wear. The formula doesn't wear that well though. Id say between 2-3 hours before needing reapplication, which is very poor, but average for most sheer lipbalms/lipsticks.
I was actually surprised with the price point, at nearly £8 I think thats pretty steep. Revlon is one of the higher priced drugstore brands but I do think thats quite high for a lipbalm/lipstick hybrid. Maybe its just because the product doesn't specifically appeal to me and being so nonchalant about the product probably didn't help. I do think its a good product and does live up to my expectations. If you were looking for a moisturising sheer lipstick then go for it. It is a nice product, but personally Im not blown away with my experience with it!

To be honest, they're almost exactly the same as 17 Mirror Shine lipsticks - which are cheaper!
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought this too!
DeleteI was indifferent about them at first but the more i see them the more i want some! Really surprised at how pigmented they look! x
ReplyDeleteI was swatching the shades in Boots the other day and didn't really think they were too different to anything else already on the market!
ReplyDeleteHowever I do really like this shade!

To me it all just seems like a clever marketing ploy to get people to buy pretty much the same products they already have, just by giving them different names. Surely a lip butter is basically just a lip gloss?
ReplyDeleteI really want to try these! x
ReplyDeleteI was pretty excited for these, but after most of the reviews I'm not interested anymore - like people have said, they're not actually 'butters' that moisuturise but just marketing ploys. Quite dissappointed :(

I keep hearing such mixed reviews about these. I really want to try one and make my own mind up but I haven't been able to get my hands on some yet x

I swatched these the other day and thought they were pretty similar to the 17 ones. My Boots had sold out of every colour and my Superdrug wasn't even stocking them so I think I'll just stick to the 17 Mirror shine ones! x
ReplyDeleteI really need to get my hands on some of these! So pretty!

I really like the look of this, and would probably buy it if it was the same price as other lip balms! But for £7.99? hmm

ReplyDeleteLooks nice but I couldn't pay the price - I'm sure there's products like it for half the price if that! x
ReplyDeletenever quite understand the hype, i'd never pay 8 quid for that. but then again, i am not a huge beauty fanatic either. ^^

the hype around these makes me want to try them out but i do think exactly the same as you about £8 being expensive for a tinted lipbalm..

I am desperate to get some of these, but I do think the price is pretty steep for a drug store brand x
ReplyDeleteI just got back from Superdrug today and I ummed and ahhed over whether I should get these. Yje price is too high (I reckon) but I think I'm getting drawn into the blogging hype as well. Gah, I don't have enough money (student budget-grr!) Besides, I stupidly decided to buy all of the RT brushes in one transaction today! I'm beyond broke. :'(
ReplyDeleteSome of them are a lot more pigmented. Try sweet tart or candy apple. Very very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love Revlon :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about the hype around these, It doesn't sound like something I would like as i too like matte lipsticks and especially full coverage lippies. xx
ReplyDeleteI'm still undecided about these..I love matte lips but think these might be good for during the day when I'm in a rush. Going to go have a swatch of some on payday! x

Oh, I just added one of these to my weekend wishlist http://allaboutthegirlblog.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/weekend-wishlist-2.html but might have to re-think now xx

I was looking forward to trying these but now I have seen a couple of blog posts on them I'm not so sure, they seem fairly sheer which is disappointing.
ReplyDeleteI actually love them :)

Even though they are completely over priced I must admit I love mine (I have sweet tart) it is perfect for days when you're in a rush and just don't have time for the whole lip pencil/lip stick thing! (and thats coming from a complete lipstick junkie) they don't last that long... but feel really nourishing and moisturising when you apply! Some of the colours are also more pigmented on others...
ReplyDeleteI just did a review on this! I would love for you or anyone to check it out :)
ReplyDeleteI am also having a giveaway when I reach 100 followers :)
