Models Own Balearic Cool

Models Own Balearic Cool: Boots/Models Own (£5)

One day I will stop banging on about how much I like the Models Own x Hed Kandi collaboration, but for now you'll just have the put up with it! The next big love in my collection is Models Own Balearic Cool. Balearic Cool is a bright, light fresh turquoise blue colour. I wouldn't say it's a neon blue, its very bright but compared to Hedonist and Beach Party in the collection is not as neon.

Out of all the Models Own nail polishes I've tried in the past this has to be the worst one formula wise. The formula is very thin and watery, which is a strange as I've never really experienced another Models Own polish to be like this (trust me, I have alot!) To get true opacity I did three coats, then another coat the day after as I still felt it was a bit patchy. I don't know if its intended to be sheerer or not, but Id presume it would be a full coverage cream finish like the majority of colours in the Models Own Range.

Despite the bit of extra effort you need to put in to make this polish work, I adore the colour and I do like the final result. I don't have many blue polishes in my collection, I have a few old blues from Barry M which don't even compare to this one. I love the freshness and the coolness it gives to my nails, its perfect for summer!

  1. Love the colour, but it does annoy me when you have to put so many coats of the same polish on to achieve it! x

  3. I just got my Hed Kandi polishes today & did a post on my nails (Balearic Cool with Ibiza Mix on top) & I found the exact same thing, it's so runny! I had to do three coats & probably would have done another if it hadn't been wearing Ibiza Mix. Thought perhaps I just had a dodgy bottle but obviously not! X

  4. I love this colour so much, it reminds me of bubblegum and summer and all things good basically! I don't think they stock these yet in my local Boots, because I didn't see them in there the other day, but hopefully they'll be stocking up soon!

  5. I think this and hedonist are my favourite colours from the hed kandi range, my mum bought a models own polish the other day.. i think it might've been the indian summer one? not sure if that's the exact name but I think it was indian something haha. Anyway, she said it was really watery and took so many coats to get it opaque which is a bit annoying, but like you said, all the previous models own polishes i've tried have been fine! x

    1. i think that one is supposed to be a layering polish rather than a opaque one, most of the posts I've seen that include indian ocean say that its a layering polish!

  14. I've got all 5 hedkandi polishes now and this has to be the most disappointing as it's taking me 4 coats to really be happy with it. It worked really well underneath Disco Heaven actually as that's got little bits of blue as well as gold glitter :) I'm absolutely loving these polishes and have been wearing a different one every day! I think Hedonist is my favourite but they're all absolutely perfect for summer, all I need now is a tan! xxx

  19. I'm so glad to see you have the same problem with yours too, I thought it was just me! I'm wearing it right now and although it's a beautiful colour - it's definitely the thinnest/watery nail varnish i've ever seen. Not something you'd expect from Models Own (my favourite nail brand).
