L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer

L'Oreal Magic Lumi Primer review swatch photo tested

L'Oreal Lumi Magic Primer: Boots / Superdrug (£9.99)

I've been using the L'oreal Lumi primer alot recently as I've been leaning towards using more illuminating and brightening primers rather than the purely mattifying. It's supposed to be summer, so I prefer my makeup looking alot fresher and luminous compared to the matte finishes I tend to favour in the winter months. I've said before that my skin tone is fairly dull, I think skin tones like mine (pale and olive) can look a little "dead" sometimes. I've tried things like MAC Strobe liquid in the past but the purpley-blueish tone of Strobe Cream doesn't really suit me. This product doesn't really have shade undertone, although it is very white which leads me to presume this may not work on darker skin tones as it might look a too white rather than illuminating. L'Oreal Lumi Primer isn't' too shimmery or too dramatic. I find gives a subtle soft glow that is flattering rather than making you look shiny or glittery. I've been using L'Oreal Lumi Magique Primer over my usual primer (Benefit Porfessional) on the tops of my cheekbones, down my nose and across my forehead. Basically any of the areas that I'd use a powder highlight on (I typically use Collection 2000 Shimmer Shades or Nars Albatross to powder highlight).

Overall I really like this product and have enjoyed it's addition to my daily makeup routine! It's normally on offer in Boots, I think I paid 2 for £14 as I got the L'oreal Lumi Concealer as well. I'd say this is worth trying out if you're looking for a brightening primer, it's not the best at mattifying and keeping oily patches at bay but its great for adding luminosity and smoothing out your base before foundation.

  4. This product sounds really great! I love the glowy look during summer, so I may have to check this product out when I go to Europe in three weeks! I don't think this is available in Australia. For now, I'll just mix my MAC Strobe Cream in with my foundation as I find it works for me.

  5. I wish my skin would glow like this! I always use a bit of benefit moon beam under my make up which works pretty well, but I might give this product a go as it is considerably cheaper!
