quick reviews #6

Alot of products I test out don't always make it into full blown reviews so I thought I'll pop regular quick reviews of things I've been trying recently before either expanding into full reviews in the future or letting slip into the backlog of products I test. Do let me know in comments if you'd like to hear more about products or eventual full reviews!
Quick Reviews

MUA Undressed Palette (£4): A drugstore version of the infamous Naked Palette. For a measly £4 you get 12 super pigmented, smooth and varied eyeshadows in a sleek compact palette. Ranging from simple nudes to dark smokey metallics this is the perfect palette for those who want an affordable palette that can create a variety of looks. I've reviewed the MUA Heaven and Earth palette before and that suits me personally a bit more than Undressed but still worth trying out! One for beginners or those who can't afford the Naked Pallete as the shades are pretty (exactly!) similar!

YSL Boréal Pallete Polar Light (£39.50)*: I was soooo disappointed with this YSL Christmas Face palette. From the promo pictures of the Norther Lights Collection I expected to be wowed by a gorgeous icy shimmer. However on me it doesn't show up at all, even when I tried packing it on over and over again with various brushes. It has very little noticeable shimmer and for something so expensive I really don't think it's worth it. I would definitely recommend the Clarins Oydessy Palette over this! It might work better on paler, cooler toned skin but definetely not one for warmer skin tones like mine.

Superdrug Exfoliating Body Scrub (£2.99): I picked this up one day as I really needed to scrub my fake tan and I fell in love with it! This is my second tube of this Superdrug own brand Exfoliating Body Scrub and I've just purchased another one. While I do think it does a fairly average job of being a body exfoliator. I like the way it smells on my body as it has a really lovely fresh, creamy cocoa butter scent. The exfoliator leaves my body feeling smooth, flake free without drying my skin in the slightest. It's pretty cheap too so for the price I was very happy with it and I think I'll keep purchasing it in the foreseeable future.

GLAMGLOW Mud Mask (£39.99)*: Glam Glow is actually INCREDIBLE. I was skeptical because of the super high price tag and the big hype surrounding it but the tea infused mask worked like a dream for me. It set's solid as a rock on the face and it felt like my face was going to fall off any minuite. However after 15 minutes and a nice wet flannel I removed the mask to reveal super bright, clear exfoliated skin. I was actually shocked how different my face looked after one use, the texture was so different! I don't think I'd go all the way and get a full sized version of this as it's way too expensive for what it is. It's a shame as this is wonderful and if you got the chance to try it out I'd really recommend it.

Elemis Fresh Skin Mattifying Moisturser (£20): This Elemis Fresh Skin Moisturiser is a new addition to my daily skincare routine as I was sucked in by the mattifying bit. It does a good job of keeping my moderately oily skin matte but also hydrated. I find too many mattifying moisturisers just dry out the skin to soak up the oil. However oily skin types needs to be kept moisturised too as it can lead to dehydration of the skin! I think this used with a primer this is the perfect base for oiler skin types!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch (£4.99): I forgot about these until I saw Amelia post about them on her blog a few weeks back. Perfect for adding a bit of sun kissed shimmer to your winter look. I wore the Shimmering Sand shade out last weekend to give my face a bit of a glow, it was very natural looking creamy sun kissed highlight. I tend to opt for powder highlighters but I did enjoy using this for a change. The formula is very creamy and blends into the skin really effortlessly. I simply used a dot and then blended it using my fingers onto the tops of my cheekbones!

  5. I love the Undressed Palette but I also prefer the Heaven and Earth one, the warmer tones suit me much better. Have you tried any of the other Vitamin E range products? I've been using the hot cloth cleaner, skin oil, eye cream and night cream for some time now and I've been really happy with all of them. Affordable and make my skin feel lovely.

  7. Lilly- I've been using the Superdrug exfoliating scrub for years now- I have tried some really expensive scrubs but ALWAYS come back to this one- I love it! Look out for their 3 for 2 offers or 2 for £5. Occasionally they run out so I always stock up! They do a mini travel version too!
