LUSH Big Shampoo: £11.25
LUSH Big Solid Conditoner: £9 per 100g
sea salt hair care
I've been using LUSH Big Shampoo on and off for years now. I would go as far as to say it's one of my top 3 shampoo's. It's a really lovely volumising and texturising conditioner that leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean and clarified. I've always thought it was odd that a salt product can leave my hair feeling soft and bouncy without making it feel coarse and unmanageable. It's quite hard to get to grips with initially but I find mixing it with water and then applying it to the hair makes it feel less coarse on application.
A recent addition to the LUSH hair care line is the Big Solid Conditioner. This is sort of like a soap, but packed full of sea salt based with seaweed, coconut oil, jojoba, and lemon and lime juice. I just cant seem to get this to work for me unfortunately. I've seen a lot of positive reviews on it but I cant seem to get it to a manageable consistency that will actually work through my hair. I've tried warming it between my pa;ms and working it in as well as adding it gradually. But nothing seems to work.I do really like the scent, which is actually a bit different to the Original Big Shampoo as it's more coconutty.
I would really recommend the Big Shampoo but not so much the Conditioner. Unless anyone has any hints on how to get it to work for me? Im willing to give it a try as I loved the Shampoo so much! Help!?

I've always thought the texture of Lush Big Shampoo would make my hair gritty, but if you like it then I'm sold! I want texture in my hair, think I'm going to pick this up when I go shopping tomorrow :) x
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a suggestion for the Big Solid Conditioner. It's not really working for me, either. I tried running it under warm water like they suggest on the Lush site, and that worked a little better. I ran it under the water and then smoothed it along my hair. Kind of awkward.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I love the smell, but I just don't think it's doing wonders for my hair.
I've never used these, but I've always heard good reviews. The H'Suan Wen Hua hair treatment is amazing though and extremely worth the money! xx

I was put off after one of their solid shampoos made my hair fall out, but I might give this one a try once I'm feeling brave!
ReplyDeleteI love big shampoo it's such a good product, always leaves my hair so nice!

Sounds great, but it's way too expensive for me.
ReplyDeleteI cut off a small piece and leave it to melt a bit on the hot water pipes in my shower.
ReplyDeleteI work for Lush and I advice this to my customers. It seems to work for them too!
How annoying you can't get the conditioner to work for you. Maybe melt it? Could you pop a bit in the microwave before hand?

I've been using the shampoo as well for a while and I'm loving it! It works perfectly for oily hair, too!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a conditioner to go with it, but how frustrating! To be honest, I'm not a fan of the solid shampoos/conditioners so this is something I won't bother with - please bring it out in a tub, Lush haha!
xx
I really want to try the shampoo cos its sounds really good, but i have never used a solid conditioner before so i cant help you that...

Rub the conditioner bar directly on the hair. That is how I was instructed to use it!
ReplyDeleteExactly, you have to rub the conditioner directly on the hair! It works perfectly for me :)
ReplyDeletemaybe just to use it up, melt bits in the microwave?

Ive heard so many good reviews on the shampoo, might give it a go :)

The shampoo has always sounded so lovely to me and, while always intrigued about the solid shampoos and conditioners, I've never been sure that I'd be able to get used to them :/

I've always loved LUSH's entire range, but their products with sea salt stand out to me most. This being one of them, then the looooovely Ocean Salt scrub which I recommend to any and every one. So I'm quite intrigued after reading your review on the conditioner..

i've heard of the shampoo many times but never actually been that attracted to it... i'm still not completely convinced on how great it is (it freaks me out a little) but maybe i'll give it a go in the future! :) hope you manage to get the conditioner to work for you soon too! X

I've used the shampoo before and liked it, but didn't realise they had launched a conditioner- may have to pop along to the shops soon :)

I love both the shampoo and the conditioner. To apply the conditioner I rub it between my hands and apply it, I then stroke the conditioner bar down my hair quite a few times as well (like I'm brushing it with the bar) as I find having already put some in with my hands it applies it a lot smoother and gets more in there etc - hope this helps x
ReplyDeleteamazing product xx

ReplyDeleteI've heard so many great things about the Big Shampoo, but just can't imagine a salt product leaving my hair feeling anything other than grimey!

I have been meaning to try this shampoo for a while. I might look at the conditioner too.

I've heard good things about the shampoos and conditioners lush off but I just don't think they'd be any good on my hair as I don't like weight products :/ The conditioner sounds very strange, I hope you find a way to get it to work!

I never heard of a sea salt shampoo, interesting! <3 xo

I had the exact same problem with the conditioner, just couldn't get it to work! Luckily the girl in the shop gave me a free sample to try as I didnt wanna spend £9 on it if it didnt work. Even with the shampoo I dont think it gives me brilliant volume, I just like the smell!!
