Jouer Matte Moisture Tint

I don't do tinted moisturisers, I find them way too dewy, greasy and they just don't tend to compliment my already oily/combo skin. I've never tried one that I liked, so I tend to completely disregarded them from my beauty radar. However when I heard about the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint I thought it might be time I gave tinted moisturisers another whirl. The word "matte" just screamed out to me and before I knew it I'd purchased it on Cult Beauty. Like I said, on the whole tinted moisturisers are dewy and "glowy" rather than something with a matte finish so I was intrigued to see how I'd fare with this one.

In recent months my skin has got a lot clearer. I've been looking after my skin and trying my hardest to stick to my routine, cleanse my face twice a day and take my makeup off at night. My skin has been reaping the benefits and for the first time in a few years I had spot free, clear skin. My main gripe with my natural skin tone is that I have fairly yellow skin but incredibly pink toned cheeks. I need something that neutralises the pink while also evening out the rest of my face. The Jouer Matte Moisture Tint covers redness and discolouration really well without looking cakey or overdone. I find that on areas I need more coverage I can stipple it on with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush to adjust the opacity to suit my needs. I do need a touch of concealer under my eyes and on any spots still but overall I really like the coverage The finish is matte without being drying or cakey looking, it's like a soft satin finish. It gives the right amount of coverage to give you the no makeup makeup look.

I picked the shade Nude which is described as a warm toned light to medium shade, I think it's a pretty good match for me, although it might be a touch too warm for my skin tone. However once buffed it looks absolutely fine. I really do enjoy using this and can see it being a staple in my daily makeup routine for weeks to come. The price is the same as any other high end foundation, which is pretty fair.

  1. This looks like a good enough shade for you by the photographs. Never tried a high end tinted moisturiser, as I always want a bit more coverage. It looks very natural though:)

  3. this looks really lovely on you and it's tempted me so badly to give it a go! like you i've always avoided tints as i feel that 1) they won't give me enough coverage and 2) they'll just add to the shiny-ness of my skin. however, i think your review has converted me! it looks so good and i like the fact it's matte. i also have blemished skin and an uneven skin tone on my face so this sounds like a product that would have numerous benefits for me! thanks for the review lily! :) X

  5. I'm just waiting for a tube of this to arrive but I'd been plagued with buyers remorse (I definitely don't need another base product) until I read this. Thanks for justifying my slightly extravagant purchase! x Becky

  22. This sounds great, I have similar skin tone to you it seems, yellow toned skin and red cheeks. If only it wasn't for the redness I could get away with much lighter foundations!

I've just posted a nail polish collection and a FOTD, & a review of Maybelline's Colour Sensational Vivids is coming this morning too on Black & Gold!
