Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam

I simply adore 60's inspired makeup and I'd even go as far as saying is my number 1 makeup icon. When creating makeup looks I generally tend to go for thick liner, doll eyes and nude peach lips topped off with a good lashing of mascara.

Rimmel's latest offering's to the UK drugstore market are inspired by the 60's retro look and their new products all reflect the makeup vibes of the time. These new products including the recently launched Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara, Rimmel ScandalEyes Shadow Paints and Rimmel ScandalEyes Thick and Thin Liner. The Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara promises thick, volumised lashes so I was excited to try it out for myself. The large brush is a fiber based one, which I personally prefer. I feel these types of brushes apply the product better to my lashes and coats each one individually rather than clumping. While I tend to struggle with oversized brushes I didn't find this one too hard to use. The rounded figure of 8 type of shape ensured I grabbed all the small lashes while building length and volume in each wipe. A few coats of this and my lashes were defined, lengthened and volumised. It's a great budget friendly buy and like most of the other Rimmel mascara's I've tried I wasn't left disappointed or underwhelmed with it's promises.

To create this look I started off with a light base of the Rimmel ScandalEyes Shadow Paint in Mercury Silver. This created a lovely long lasting shimmery base all over the lid before I went on to add a signature flick using the Rimmel ScandalEyes Thick and Thin Liner. I found this to be a great eyeliner  for begginers, it has a very slimline nib and depending on how much pressure you apply the line can be applied thicker or thinner. As with all liners I tend to go thinner and then thicken it up once I have the shape I like. 60's makeup was all about the exaggerated liner as it really defines the eyes and gives a rounded doll eyed look. I then layered up with the Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara to really boost my lashes. I then  popped an extra bit of the Shadow Paint on the inner corners of my eyes just to brighten them up a touch more. To finish everything I used the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 101, a perfect matte peach lip which tied the whole look together perfectly.

Rimmel's extensive range is kept bang up-to-the-minute as it translates the look of London into new shades, products, packaging and advertising. But however creative and fashion-forward, Rimmel products are always easy to use, versatile and accessible, designed to encourage experimentation and self-expression. For great new ways to get the London look, just watch this space!
