5 for £5: Hair

5 for £5: Hair review swatch photo
Batiste Oriental (£2.99)*, TRESemmé Platinum Strength Monodose (£1.49), Pro:voke Twice A Week Brightening shampoo (£3.09), Dove Leave In CONDITIONER (£3.59), Bleach Super Cool Colour (£5)

I tend to talk about a variety of things from low end to high end right up the top of the range premium stuff. But I always have drugstore items that I rely on in my everyday routines that I often forget to talk about. So I decided to start a 5 for £5 series, picking the best of the high-street all coming in at under a fiver. I've split it into categories, and my ramble is all about hair. Although I have to admit I am more of a premium haircare type of girl. I really believe in a few essential low end products that work a treat on my hair. So here goes…

Batiste is an absolute beauty must have. Honestly, If you don't have this in your hair collection you should rethink your routine! I find it an absolute lifesaver, I use it to revitalise greasy hair, or when my hair is just washed and needs a little "dirt" to aid styling. I like Batiste Tropical and Batiste Oriental, but it comes in a wider variety of scents to suit any taste. This work just as well if not better than high end dry shampoo's in my opinion. One of my haircare secrets include the little TRESemmé Platinum Strength Monodose. Nifty 60 second hair masks which adds an intense boost of nourishment, shine and softness to the hair. I love them because they are a brilliant quick fix. After using one of monodoses on my tips and working up to my mid lengths, my hair feels transformed. Perfect to use inarush or when your in the shower to perk up your hair. I like all the TRESemmé Platinum Strength range, but they do start to go up in price after this one. I'd really recommend the Deep Conditioning mask as well as the Leave in Conditioner.

If you're a blondie like me, then a purple shampoo is a must. I always opt for the Pro:voke Twice A Week Brightening shampoo to knock out any of the brassy tones in my hair. I tend to use this every other wash as my hair goes brassy very quickly. As I do find it a touch drying, I always mix it with another shampoo for added hair are benefits. The packaging is a bit old fashioned and it looks like something my Nan would use…, but I can't knock the fact it works. I'm always raving about the Dove Nourishing Leave in Conditioner, it's my go to detangling treatment. I use it between washes to add a little something to my dry damaged hair without making it feel greasy or weighed down. I adore the scent, and it's light enough to be used on a daily basis. I adore this and have gone through countless bottles of the stuff, and I even have a backup or two lurking in my cupboard.

I decided to also include the new Bleach Super Cool Colour's in my top 5 for under £5 edit. Recently launched these at home crazy hair colours have quickly rocketed up my list of favourites. Coming in 12 different shades and lasting 2-10 washes depending on your hair colour. There is something for everybody, and I love that I can now pop into my local Boots store and go a little crazy with the hair dye. My picks are Rose, Washed up Mermaid, Awkward Peach and Seapunk! I'll be reviewing these in full sometime next week, but honestly, I can't fault 'em. Bleach sure know their hair dye.
What are your favourite hair products under a fiver?

  1. I love the Prov:oke Shampoo and it such a good alternative to the higher end counterparts. I have also used the Lee Stafford one but that turned my hair a pinkish tone (which actually looked quite nice but not what I was going for.). Dry shampoo is a must for me and use it religiously however I miss the days when it wasn't so popular and a whole can cost just £1.99 which was a real steal!! x

  18. I recently rambled about the Pro:voke Twice A Week Brightening shampoo in my favourites and peeves. I agree with you, its has a major role to play in a blonde hair care routine. I also use my every other wash to eliminate brassy tones. Its a little life saver and last such a long time.

  27. completely agree at batisite - it is a necessity and i will continue to buy it forever! i love that they have a whole range of scents and styles as well so that there is something to suit everybody! when the tresemme platinum strength range came out i was super eager to give everything a go but have since then sort of forgotten about it. but after reading about the 'monodoses' i'm really keen to search all the products out again! my hair isn't really that dry but it could do with a little boost of nourishment and shine every now and again so these sound perfect! i am a blondie too but a very dark blonde and so have never thought about trying a purple toned shampoo. however, i don't suppose there is any harm in giving something new a go and will definitely be having a look around for this to maybe give it a go :) as i mentioned, i don't have particularly dry hair and so i'm not sure whether the dove leave in conditioner would really be that beneficial to me. buuut, i am thinking of re-dipdying my hair and so when i do, i'm sure this would come in very handy to tackle the ridiculously dry ends you get with said hair style! another thing i will definitely be trying when i have dip dyed hair are these bleach colours - who doesn't want to look like a mermaid or a my little pony?! ;) i look forward to your reviews on them! X
