The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter*: £12

The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter is a makeup removing cleansing balm, think along the lines of the much hyped, Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm. It takes of makeup effortlessly, with a little ammont of product going a long way. It dissolves everything from waterproof mascara to heavy duty foundation with ease. I've been using a pea amount massaged into the face and eyes as a pre-cleanse before going in with another cleanser to make sure everything is off. It does come off very easily when used with a (clean!) hot flannel, but I usually find balmy cleansers can break me out if I don't use something more skin appropriate to make sure all the residue is removed. It doesn't sting or go too “milky” around the eye area either, and it emulsifies very easily with water. I don't really notice the chamomile smell either which is good as I'm not a huge fan of it personally.

The Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter retails for £12 which is a fraction of the price of the Emma Hardie equivalent. Also, it's worth pointing out The Body Shop regularly run promotions such as 3 for 2's and 30% off's. So if you get it at the right price it's excellent, more budget friendly alternative. Although I think for £12, it's a very fair price for the product. I have no faults with this cleansing balm and would wholeheartedly recommend it, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin going into the winter months. If you have oily/acne prone/combination skin, maybe stick to using this as a pre-cleanse and then using something more suitable to make sure it's all off and doesn't leave any residue behind which could trigger a breakout.
Have you tried a Balm Cleanser?

  2. This looks lovely! I'm not a fan of the Emma Hardie balm, its far too rich with the oils in there. But i would be so tempted to test this out x

    1. I'm the same with the Emma Hardie, too rich for daily use and all those oils are a nightmare for my skin!

  3. Ooh this is the second review I've read that mentions it might break you out if you have acne prone skin, really helpful actually because I probably would have blindly gone and bought it otherwise!

  24. So helpful! Was thinking of buying this but got a bit put off having acne prone combo skin. Like you say though, as a pre cleanse it would work well. Hmm...shopping basket it goes x

  26. for some reason i first thought this was one of the body shop's body butters and as i don't really like them, i thought this wouldn't be for me. however, it sounds like an absolutely great product! i've never actually tried a cleansing balm before but have always heard such great things about them (this one included!). i actually have oily/acne prone skin so would probably need to use another product afterwards to ensure complete removal but for the price that it is, i don't think that's an issue at all! X

  29. Love this post Lily! I have been using this myself recently and have found it so good at getting off eye-make up. I usually find usual eye-make up removers really sting my eyes. Also saw your mention of the promotions, I found a site that lets you know about them first so I have got a great discount code, which is a sure sign I should treat myself to more things right? ;)

Here's the link to the code if you want it too ... http://www.salesgossip.co.uk/shop/73/The-Body-Shop?sf=7289

Love your beauty and fashion blog, much love! x
