loose powder lovin'

Cargo HD Translucent Powder Bourjois Java Rice Powder By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder review swatch photo

Cargo HD Translucent Powder : £21
Bourjois Java Rice Powder : £9.99
By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder : £41

Loose powders and I don’t usually get on. I find it too messy and I hate having it puff up in my face whenever I try to use it. I'm a pressed powder girl all the way with my favourite being the Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powders. But recently I’ve been giving a few loose powders a whirl and I thought I’d show you some of my current powder related thoughts.

Cargo HD Translucent Powder is probably my top pick at the moment It diffuses the light for a soft blurred effect so all my lines pores and imperfections. The powder itself is ultra fine and leaves a soft matte finish. The best thing about this is definitely the packaging. It has a unique lid which means that the powder is sealed in when you open it it doesn’t puff up everywhere and get over all my things.

The Bourjois Java Rice Powder is based off the original cult Bourjois Java Rice powder that was formulated over 150 years ago. It’s been updated for the 21st century market and is now illuminating powder. It feels absolutely weightless on the face This is a great radiance boosting powder and gives the face a soft glow. It sets makeup nicely while giving a lovely glow from within type look.

Then finally we have The By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder. Now after weeks of searching for this (I literally used to go into Space NK every week trying to get my paws on it) I wasn’t as pleased with this powder as I thought I was going to be. It came very highly recommended to me,  by peoples who's opinions I trust. I just found it wasn’t as good as I expected. While the smoothing and blurring properties are all there, I’ve used much nicer powders. It gives a flawless long lasting finish but I felt it looked a little ashy on my skin. It's probably good powder for drier skin as its packed with hylrauonic particles which will help moisture on the skin. The price... oh the price. £41 for a powder is something I'm definitely not considering again in a hurry. In my opinion, good but not worth it!

What's you favourite loose powder?

  1. I'm not very impressed with the Java rice powder. I could see glitter on my forehead when I tried it to use all over. And for a highlighter it's too messy for me.

  6. like you, i'm a pressed powder kind of girl - i have oily skin so i like the way i can mattify my face with a choice of pressed powder. however, in one of my first ever glossybox's i was sent an illamasqua loose powder and have been meaning to try it out ever since. i've always been a bit wary of it thought because i'd probably end up spilling it everywhere and just making a complete mess of myself. i also didn't really know what benefits loose powders had (such as blurring out lines and imperfections) so this post has given me a boost to hunt out that illamasqua loose powder and give it a go! :) X

  9. Tengo los de Bourjois y no los he usado hasta ahora porque en verano no me gusta la piel brillante, pero ahora en invierno dan un aspecto muy bonito a la piel :)

  12. I love loose powders - all I use. At the moment I'm using one from Natural Collection which was about 1.99, and although it was SO cheap, i'm SO happy with the result!
