second chance: maybelline bro drama

maybelline brow drama light brown dark brown review swatch photo

maybelline brow drama in dark brown £4:99

I don't often post negative reviews but when I do its when things are really bad. I don't tend to go into beauty products with the highest of hopes (as generally itset's you up for disappointment too much!) but when things really don't live up to their big big claims, then i'll rethink things. I recently reviewed the Maybelline Brow Drama and gave it a sort of so-so review. Loads of people in the comments said they really liked it so I was surprised that I didn't like it when so many people seemed to love it.

While I did admit within the review I think the shade I picked was a little light for my brows. I decided to go to Boots and purchase another just for research purposes. Call me mad, but I guess it's all in the name of blogging! To be honest, I still stand by my initial review, that I don't think it's worth it. But it might not be as awful as I first made out it was, but it defiantly won't give you Cara brows or add "drama" like the name suggests. I think my main issue is with the name, it just doesn't give you "drama".  It's misleading as it's a glorified tinted brow gel. If it was just marketed as a simple brow gel for taming brows then I'd be a lot happier with it.On my brows it doesn't add that much colour if you have dark brows to begin with and I still find they leave my brows slightly crispy looking with a light brown tinge.
Have you tried this product?

  1. 100% agree, it does nothing for me at all! The Eyeko one on the other hand, amazing x

  3. I was quite excited to try this out as there isn't anything like it in the drugstore,I keep trying to like it but it's not happening for me. I don't get the shape of the wand either! xxx

  4. I agree! I thought this would look super sculpted and make my eyebrows look gorge but unfortunately just looks like a brow mascara from the 90's.

  5. I completely agree with this. I tried it on my unruly brows and it kinda felt like if I moved my brows they would crack!

  7. I find drug store brow products are all pretty mediocre. It's hard to find the right shades.

  8. Never tried this but seen loads of good reviews on it! I'm still pretty skeptical though so I doubt I'll be looking out for this one.

  11. Yeah this a pretty poor product, I have it too and colour wise it does NOTHING for me, but I use it as a brow setter instead, so I use it almost the same way I would use a clear brow gel and I find that it does set my brows! x

  12. I actually love this product! My brows are dark and thick, so I look pretty scary if I fill them in. I bought Brow Drama in the darkest shade and find it's perfect for shaping my brows and adding the tiniest hint of colour :) They stay in shape all day and the product comes out really easily when I wash my face in the evening. Obviously no product will work for everyone but I just thought I'd share my thoughts.

  14. When I first tried this I was seriously unimpressed and wrote a 'meh' review about it but now I really like it for setting my eyebrows after filling them in! My eyebrows aren't that crazy to be honest though so I completely understand why people with unruly eyebrows wouldn't like this and also, like you said, the name of it is completely misleading! x

  16. I agree that this product is definitely mediocre to me..
Like most products, I bought it after reading a few good reviews, but, it just didn't live up to those 'great' reviews and expectations..
I still use if now and again, but it's not a 'go to' product for me.
Good to read a review like this Lily.

  19. I 100% agree, I don't think it's anything more than a tinted brow gel - the one thing I don't get though is the wand, why is it shaped like that?? It means you only use the product on the tip and the rest of the hairy bit (technical term?) is rendered completely null & void.

  20. I hated it too, I bought the lightest shade and I think the thing that bothered me most about it was the shape of the wand, the ball shaped bit at the end makes no sense and they would have been better off keeping it as a standard mascara wand.
