5 uses for vaseline

5 uses for vaseline

vaseline

Vaseline has been on my list of must have beauty items for as long as I can remember. It's a cult beauty classic. While Vasaline is unglamorous at best, it's one of the most multi use items in the beauty industry. It's something that I firmly believe everyone should have in their beauty stash and here are five reasons why...

one: A no brainer and the most common use for Vaseline is as lip balm. Using it on your lips in the colder months will keep them protected from the elements and super soft at the same time. This is where I like to use the tinted or the flavoured versions of the iconic beauty must have as they are a little bit more appealing than the original.

TWO: This is a use for Vaseline is one that I've not personally tried, yet a lot of people use Vaseline on their eyelashes before going to bed to help encourage growth. I'm very tempted to give this one a whirl but I do get worried about getting my eyelashes stuck together. So many people I know rave about this technique so I really shouldn't be so worried.

THREE: Taming unruly brows. Pop a bit of vaseline on a spoolie and run it through your brows to keep them in place. Using the same idea as the lash growth tip I wonder if adding Vaseline to your brows o help encourage the growth of them too.

FOUR: Popping a light coating around the hairline when using at home hair dyes will stop it from staining the skin around your face. It'll create a barrier between the harsh chemicals in the dye and your skin. Which is ideal for sensitive skintyps.

FIVE: Keeping dry edges at bay. Im talking knee's, elbows, hands and cutiles. It seems theres a product designed for all sorts of dry areas but Vaseline is a good all rounder for all these. Why use 3 products when one does just the same job. Also applying a small ammount to elbows and knee's before self tanning will prevent staining.
Do you have any alternative uses for Vaseline?

  8. Vaseline doesn't actually bring moisture to the lips, nor is it good for eyelashes. But the other tips are great!

  12. I've never used it as a lash treatment but I love it as a lip balm and for protecting my skin against hair dye - it actually works super well and prevents the dye from staining the skin around your hairline as well! Such a versatile product.

  26. Bit of an unusual tip but I find Vaseline useful for picking up little nail gems. When painting your nails then adding little jewels for a bit of sparkle, grab a little cocktail stick or something similar and a small dab of Vaseline on the end. It makes it easier to pick up the little gems. People say put tack on the end but I find Vaseline works better and you can't see it.

  32. I used to really like Vaseline and use a number of their lip balms but apparently the petroleum is really bad for you and dries out your skin in the long run? Now I just use this http://www.gems-cream.co.uk/product/gems-lip-conditioning-balm/ in either the tube form or the pot one. Its all natural and just feels a dream! :)

  43. I'm sure other people may have mentioned this already but the original vaseline especially isn't good for your lips. It actually prevents natural moisture meaning you become dependant on the vaseline when it's not actually helping!

  45. I can think of lots of uses. Not one of them involves using it on my skin though. Mineral oil, no thanks!!
The only reason it makes your skin 'feel' less dry is because it prevents transepidermal water loss. It also prevents your skin from eliminating toxins efficiently. That's not a good thing.
Try subbing for a plant based balm, on which there are hundreds of good ones. All the benefits without the downside of Vaseline.

  46. I have quite naturally big eyebrows so I use this on them alllll the time! The aloe vera one works lovely on my hands when my eczema is really bad and slather it onto the dry patches and then pop on some cotton gloves. :)

  47. I always use mine as cheap make-up remover! Especially good at getting rid of stubborn smokey eyes if you don't fancy scrubbing it off, it does feel gross when you put it on but then comes off easily with a cotton pad! xoxo
