my spring hair update

spring hair update
spring hair update

Percy & Reed Hairdressers
157C Great Portland St, London W1W 6QS *

Im doing a hair video shoot today and they asked to have a good look at my hair beforehand. They liked my look they just felt my hair was a bit lacklustre. I don't normally listen to what people say but Im glad they said it because it's actually something I've been feeling for a while. It's hard to get blonde hair to have that shiny depth that darker hair colours have - plus the colour was also a little autumnal. So I decided  get it switched up a bit, Just in time for spring.

Okay so my hair isn't that much of a change from what it was before from the photos but I really can see the difference in real life. I wanted a nice springtime change - I really wanted to keep my roots (even though they are bad, it's stupid damaging hair for the sake of it) and keep it the long bob length. A lot of people ask me if I regret cutting my hair short and I don't at all!

I decided to get it brightened up a little bit so it would freshen it all up a bit. As my hair is in quite bad condition from when I had that issue with the hair dressers last year my hairdresser explained to me it was probably better if we didn't high lift it. What we did was give it a super SUPER gentle bleach bath to clarify the toner out of my hair and bring it back to the blonde I liked. I had a few bits of balayage around the face and thats it! I had a couple of inches lopped off, shaped around the front and then

I got my hair done by Lacey at the Percy and Reed Salon on Great Portland Street. Who was really awesome, Im so glad they actually said "LOOK DONT GET HIGHLIGHTS" because a lot of salons would just do it on top of the damage. Im grateful they went down the alternative route rather that going right in to damage it even more. Anyway! Im super happy with it and it's exactly what I wanted. A kinda lived in, shaggy blonde rocker type thing. Very pleased! None the less, my new mission is to restore my hair back to decent quality. Time to invest in some new hair masks. Recommendations below please!

  5. the tresseme platinum strength stuff is good, so is coconut oil. but sometime i like sleeping in a hair oil before washing it the next day and i find that helps quite a bit!

  6. It looks so nice! I'm so bored of my hair at the minute, it's definitely lacking in most things and I don't put any effort in because I don't like it.

  8. The lighter blonde looks so gorgeous against your darker brows. Very delevigne. I actually love the percy and reed TLC moisture mask for when my hair's in a mess if you want to continue down the percy and reed route. QworterLifeCrisis

  9. Love this hairstyle on you! I had ombre hair for about a year and recently decided to get the chop! The difference in my hair is incredible! I loved my blonde ends but like you, it was so damaging!

  12. The mask that Bleach does is incredible. If im honest I thought it would be just a thick conditioner. But my hair is bleached at the ends too, and it is so so worth getting. Although, if I wear you id just buy some coconut oil from tesco (£6) and put it on after shampooing. Leave it on over night and wash hair well in the morning. It refreshes the hair very well and its all natural.

  16. Your hair looks amazing! You as well as the many other bloggers who have chopped off their hair have inspired me to finally get rid of my dead, fizzy waist-length hair. 8 inches gone! And my hair has never felt healthier!

  19. Your hair looks so volumised and healthy Lily!! Amazing! I got my hair cut almost the same time as you last time and loved it, its grown so quick so im actually considering a chop again to keep it healthy and more of a longer bob although the hippy in me is saying "keep it long and flowing for the summer" ...hmm what to do xx

  23. I love Lush's masks or Pantene's ones but I haven't died my hair blond so I'm probably not the best person to give some recommendations since I'm brunette :) I really like your bob haircut, I tried it once (two years ago) but I have a lot of hair with volume and it's also wavy/curly so you can imagine how that turned out! (not well, I have to say!)

  26. gahhh you make me want to cut off all my hair! plus when it comes to having to rescue damaged hair its safe to say i have been there, done that and got the t shirt. I'm actually currently writing a post about it but the dove range in the blue bottles (the intensive rescue one), with the treatment conditioner leave in conditioning and care spray really saved me and are a bargain too! I also can't recommend the lee stafford masks enough, especially the 'one for hair that never grows past a certain length' and the breakage one!

  33. Your hair looks beautiful and I'm loving the longer bob look. For hair care products, I use quite a range of conditioners from Ojon or Bumble and Bumble which I really like. The L'Oreal Series Expert Absolut Repair is amazing too - especially the conditioner (the shampoo is too heavy for my fine hair) as it contains Lactic Acid to put moisture back into your hair. I can honestly say, I've never used a conditioner that has made such an amazing difference before. The new Schwarzkopf Essence Ultime Omega Repair BB Beauty Balm is also great.
