3 pore reducing primers

pore reducing primers review swatch photo

Pore minimisers seem to be having a bit of a moment right now. Everyone has pores, the size and noticeability of them varies from skin type to skin type. They are basically little holes in the face which can become congested or blocked and therefore be more noticeable. Pore minimisers are designed to make the skins surface look smoother, stop pores from getting more clogged and even out the face. Here are my picks...

The Bioderma Sebium Pore refiner is my personal favourite of the bunch. It's sebum reducing, smoothing and works a treat for oily/combo skin. Bioderma products are often non comedogenic and hypoallergenic so it's not going to break you out if you have troublesome skin types. It's also silicone free. The Body Shop Tea Tree pore Minimiser is aimed at more blemished skin as a primer and skin care two in one.  Perfect for oilier skin types as it really mattifies the skin and blurs out imperfections. The NYX Pore Filler is another reasonably priced primer.  It smooths out large pores and stops makeup from sliding off during the day. It reminds me a little of the Benefit Porefessional in terms of finish, it's quite heavy on the silicone.

  19. I'm loving the body shop tea tree range at the moment, so that one appeals to me the most, except that I've read some negative reviews. Bioderma is something I have my eye on though x

  23. Hi Lily, I'd love to use primers more often but they are full of silicones and they clog my pores, which are already big enough by themselves, unfortunately the Bioderma one has silicones too, I read the ingredients :(

  30. NYX Pore Filler did not work for me AT ALL. It was okay on it's own but with a liquid foundation it would separate and look awful. I think it's because I had a water based foundation?? *shrugs*

  31. I've tried the Porefessional and while it worked at minimizing pores, I felt like it didn't help much with oiliness so I just ordered the Bioderma one! I've heard such great things about the brand but have never heard of the pore refiner so I'll have to try that out! This post was so helpful!
