5 Festival Beauty Tips

Give in to Wipes

Seriously. How often is it drilled  into us that “wipes are no good” for our skin. I think bloggers are partly responsible for this - because all my IRL friends use them without a care in the world. None the less when it comes to festival beauty there is nothing like ‘em. From waking up in a pool of sweat to stumling in bleary eyed. Wipes are multi purpose and a must for a festival beauty bag. I bought ones for my face as well as ones for my body and everything else. I really like the Yes to Carrots wipes - they do a good job at cleansing the skin  and removing makeup

Don’t bring your best makeup

My favourite Illamasqua Lip pigment only went and melted in the sun didn’t it. I was gutted. It’s my favourite product of all time and it was just a sloppy goopy mess after a hour in my backpack. When you go to a festival don’t pack all your expensive favourite makeup items. Go for your more budget friendly options within your beauty collection. Pick items that are replaceable or not your favourite but still do the job. You don’t want to go losing your favourite Tom Ford shadow or that beautiful Charlotte Tilbury lippie do you!

Bring Glitter

I think it’s always fun to bring glitter to a festival. You’ll be surprised how many people will see you with it on and ask you to try some for themselves. I took a pot of the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Loose Glitter and the Urban Decay Bondage and had a line of boys all wanting a coating of the shimmery stuff at our tent door. Apply it to the tops of your cheek bones for an 80’s glam rock throwback or on the lids for a new rave sparkle Don’t forget neon paints too, they are always a crowd pleaser!

ALWAYS BRING SPF. SERIOUSLY.

Body, Lip and Face. Me and Dal made the mistake of only bringing body SPF on our recent festival jaunt to Germany and we were left with chapped lips and burnt noses. I’ve been raving about the Benefit Dream Screen for ages but it’s one of the best facial SPF’s I’ve ever tried. It keeps oiliness at bay without skimping on protection. Bring a stick o’ lipbalm to keep your lips protected too!

Wear makeup if you want to

If you want to wear makeup at a festival then do it. Don’t feel peer pressed into bare facing it if you don’t want to. Some people just feel comfortable without some sort of makeup on! Just because wearing makeup at festivals is “frowned” on my the more “hardcore” festivaller might look down on you for making an effort if it makes YOU happy then do it. Refer back to my earlier point about not bringing your best stuff, but strip down to the essentials and what you really need. Good base, mascara, brows and a bronzer are my personal must haves!

  3. Me and my friends made the mistake of not thinking about SPF at a festival once too and the shorts to welly tan line was not a good look! Great tips x

  7. Some good tips - although I'm not a festival goer these tips would work for most of us this summer during hot days! You only make the mistake of taking expensive makeup out in the heat once....melted Mac lippy anyone?!

  14. These are such good tips and exactly what I have used in the past! My biggest tip is to take lots of bobbles and grips so you can put all of your hair up into a huge pineapple on the top of your head and not have to worry about it all weekend!

  16. The last one is the big one! I watched so many of my girlfriends go "natural" because they thought others would look down on them. If there is one place you can be yourself (at least this is the case for us Bonnaroo attendees) it's at a festival. This is a gathering of creative people who strive for self expression. Express yourself ladies!

  19. I'm totally with you on the wipes - I don't know how they've gotten a bad rap but I always keep some on hand for lazy nights or for weekends away/when I'm not checking any bags. Sometimes I find they even improve my skin!

  26. Wow, I had no idea it was frowned upon to wear makeup at a festival, thats just crazy. I always thought that was the best time to go all out and wear things out of your comfort zone, but hey, screw em! Thanks for these tips, this is actually the first blog post Ive ever seen about tips for festivals, so it really is helpful! I was supposed to be going to Wireless with one of my best friends but couldn't in the end due to a trip to Greece, so making up for it by maybe going to a different festival at the end of the summer, so I'll bare these tips in mind :) xxx

  30. These tips are great, thank you! I've been on lots of festivals before but will be going to Reading this August which is down as quite a hardcore festival so I appreciated the wear make up if you want to tip! I also didn't even realise that you should be using a different sun cream for your face, so you've saved my skin (literally) :)

Not only that after a month I miss my monthly flow, when I went to my doctor, he confirm that I am pregnant so I told myself that I will testify to the whole wide world about the wonders of the powerful man if I give birth successfully.
