Maybelline Acid Wash Lilac Rebel

MAYBELLINE COLOUR SHOW ACID WAS IN LILAC DREAM review swatch photo

Uh. Where to start with this polish. It's called Lilac Rebel. Um... yeah that's definitely blue. Okay let's forget about the name and just apply the polish.

One Coat - Pretty thin still.

Two Coats - Oh, okay it'll need another.

Third Coat- ABJSGDKJSFJKSHFSNF.

Remove Polish.

I then tried it under a blue base and it looked a lot better. But the larger glitter stuck to the sides of the bottle and I couldn't scoop it out or lay them smooth. The smaller pieces came out fine but the effect I was looking for just wasn't happening.I do like the idea of having a matte glitter in a creme polish, I just felt this was too thin and just didnt work. This also comes in a topcoat only version which I might purchase as well as two other blended shades.

  4. I must admit, these don't appeal and it's unusual for me to say that about the latest glitter/special effect top coat! Needless to say I don't think I'll be purchasing one of these. xx

  6. I have to agree with you on the name not matching the colour, definitely looks like a baby blue to me! I love the polish when it's on, but it is a pain to remove! I'm not too sure how it gives an acid wash effect but I like it.

  7. Ah why are glitter/effect polishes always so frustrating! I good idea in theory but it seems only very few brands can get it right x

  14. Shame that it was a bit hard to work with. I find I struggle a lot with glitter coats because I can never get the right amount of glitter out onto the brush and onto my nail!

  16. Such a shame that this doesn't work very well, as it does look very pretty. Maybe it would be best to just use it as a top coat?
