i got a fringe

lily melrose fringebritish fashion blogs

Four London : 62 Conduit St, London W1S 2GB

I've actually already talked about my new hair cut over on my other blog but I thought I'd do another one here explaining it a little more for those who dont actually read my fashion blog. I decided to switch my hair up a bit on the spur of the moment sometime last week. I wanted something a little softer, cuter and fresher. I've had what my stylist described as "rock n roll" blonde for ages, grown out roots and block bright blonde tones. While I absolutely love this look and it's pretty much me down to a tee, I just wanted a change. My hair was too long and just not working for me anymore.

I headed over to Four London, the gals who were responsible for my original hair chop to get it refreshed. To get the look we did a mixture of highlights and lowlights to create a more unique soft texture. I wanted my hair to be minky blonde with no yellow or orange tones and really stressed this. I dont like my hair when it has too much gold in it and like to keep it minky or ashy. My cut as inspired by Jane Birkin, Suki Waterhouse and of course Alexa Chung. I've been considering a fringe for quite a long time and I had visions of me regretting it immediately, but a week on I havent. My fringe can be worn full, to the side or lightly parted in the middle. It's the perfect length to get a variety of looks. I got my typical blunt bob to my collarbones just to give my hair body and get all those ugly dead ends off.

I think my hair looks a bit like Rod Stewarts sometimes so getting used to styling a fringe is proving to be a bit of a challenge to a fringe n00b like me! If you have any tips that might help me out then please leave them in the comments! Thank you!

3 Summer Makeup Switch ups

The change is seasons is the perfect time to try a new makeup look. I especially like spring summer makeup because it's more experimental, theres so much you can do with it and it's just a bit more fun. Winter makeup is all well and good but a pop of colour here and some bronzer there is a lovely way to step into the new season. Here are three super easy beauty summer trends that everyone can try.

The Glossy Cheek:
The glossy cheek was all over the SS catwalks this year. The dewy look died out last year and we were all reaching for all matte everything. Dewy not oily is the key word here. Keep the skin looking fresh with radiance boosting highlighters, creamy cheek sticks and light dewy bases. Apply your highlighter on on the inner corner of your eye, cheekbones or cupid’s bow for a natural radiant look.

Bright Lips:
Orange lips are THE colour for summer. From neon to coral orange is THE colour to be seen in. Switch the focus of your makeup to your lips for a bold pop of colour. Contrasted with light makeup on the eyes and a sculpted cheek this is the easiest way to look polished and feel summer ready with minimal effort. Taking a feature and exaggerating is always a fun way to adapt your makeup.

Bronzed Goddess :
Michael Kors does the bronzed and beautiful so well and taking inspiration from his SS looks - try ditching the blush. A pretty soft tanned look is perfect for summer and by using a peachy warm bronzer on the apples of the cheeks gives a healthy, luminous glow that’s perfect for the summer time.
